New Generation of Popular Business Process Management (BPM) Software Fully Leverages Microsoft Technology, Streamlines Solution Design, and Provides the Framework for BPA and BPM Integration

June 24, 2010 – Cincinnati, Ohio. Bluespring Software (Bluespring), a leading provider of software and services for Business Process Innovation (BPI), today announced immediate availability of Bluespring BPM Suite 5.0. The result of significant industry research and customer input, this new generation of Bluespring’s flagship Business Process Management product has been developed with an advanced software architecture that fully leverages the Microsoft Technology Platform and 64 bit processors along with web services, a powerful business rules engine, and an intuitive user interface to deliver a new level of extensibility, performance, and ease-of-use.

Bluespring BPM Suite 5.0 enables an organization to rapidly design, deploy, manage, and continuously improve almost any business process, from simple to complex. It provides a collaborative business process design environment, standards-based integration with enterprise systems and data, highly flexible workflow controls for human interaction, and a robust, scalable run-time environment suitable for dynamic, mission-critical business processes.

Key enhancements delivered in release 5.0 include:

A significantly enhanced architecture that enables organizations to fully leverage their investment in Microsoft Technologies, as well as the power of 64 bit processors, within a highly dynamic BPM framework. Bluespring BPM Suite 5.0 is fully Microsoft .NET compliant and tightly integrated with the latest versions of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SharePoint Server. The Interpretive XML architecture now enables rapid deployment of process changes using an “assemble and publish” approach. New capabilities have been incorporated for complex data models, simplified table handling, localization, and more.

A new business rules engine that enables a spectrum of business rule authors, from subject matter experts to business analysts and developers, to easily write and maintain sophisticated business rules and complex calculations. Authoring features include natural language-like rules, sophisticated expression-building, multi-dimensional decision tables, visual rule flow, and rule templates. With the Bluespring BPM Suite 5.0 rules engine, organizations can effectively manage business logic as a dynamic corporate asset.

An enhanced Visual Process Designer that makes it easy for process owners, business analysts, and IT professionals to collaboratively define business process solutions that span any combination of people, systems, data sources, locations and organizations. A completely new UI developed around Microsoft standards provides visibility of the process flow along with all enterprise resources and process definition tools from a single point & click graphical user interface. Drag & drop process modeling enables non-IT business analysts to easily develop visual process flow diagrams by incorporating and configuring activities from a library of pre-defined activity types. Business analysts and IT professionals can easily define objects representing all types of resources, including data sources, systems (e.g. web service), document templates, human roles and task assignments, business rules, and process hierarchies for use in process and solution design.

“Release 5.0 represents a whole new generation of the Bluespring BPM Suite,” said Edward Bauer, Bluespring President and COO. “Besides moving us to a truly Microsoft-centric architecture and adding new industry-leading capabilities, one of the most important aspects of Bluespring BPM 5.0 is that it provides the framework for delivery of a comprehensive Business Process Innovation solution that tightly integrates our Business Process Analysis (BPA) tools within our BPM Suite. For instance, we will soon be delivering an exciting new KPI Console that goes well beyond the dashboards currently available in the market. It will integrate the business process analytics engine from our ProcessView BPA product with real-time data captured in BPM to provide dynamic real time and historical process performance information as well as process simulation using actual process data. That and other new capabilities we’re building on the Bluespring BPM Suite 5.0 foundation will give organizations a whole new way to continuously streamline key business processes, respond to changing conditions, and improve bottom line performance.”

(CINCINNATI, OH) – Students in the University of Cincinnati’s College of Business will have a new edge when it comes to real-world experience, thanks to a gift-in-kind from Bluespring Software.

The gift, Business Process Management Software ( BPMS ) with a commercial value of $375,000, will be offered in all College of Business labs and will be integrated into the curriculum of the Information Systems ( IS ) department. Business Process Management ( BPM ) involves efficiently aligning an organization with the wants and needs of clients by helping companies model, implement and monitor the alignment process.

In today’s global economy, businesses need to be able to make quick adjustments to meet rapidly changing market forces and to take advantage of new technologies.

Business process modeling and analysis are key skills for all business professionals, particularly those in information systems. “We are grateful to Bluespring for this generous gift,” said IS department head, Associate Professor Vivek Choudhury. “Having Bluespring’s state-of-the-art BPM software as an integral part of our courses will serve as an important differentiator for our programs and our students.”

In years past, this type of change began as diagrams on conference room walls, and required long lead times to get any changes into development. Business Process Management software allows businesses to refine and automate the process, making it much faster to production.

BPM software is quickly becoming the platform upon which forward-thinking enterprises are choosing to build complex solutions, according to Blaine Clark of Bluespring.

“We are honored that UC’s College of Business has chosen to partner with Bluespring Software as the software provider for new class curriculum in Business Process Management,” says Clark. “As one of the leading providers of BPM Software, and a member of the Vora Group family of companies based in Cincinnati, we are elated to be able to contribute to our community in such a meaningful way.” Mahendra Vora, chairman of Bluespring Software, Inc. is a member of the UC College of Business Information systems Advisory Board.

The software will enrich the real-world experiences of the next generation of Cincinnati business leaders.

“We are grateful to have generous business partners like Bluespring Software,” said Dean Will McIntosh, PhD. “With this kind of support, our students have a wonderful opportunity to hit the ground running in their careers.”

Bluespring Software Acquires ProcessView and LeanView

CINCINNATI, OH - Bluespring Software, a leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM) and workflow automation software, announced today that as of January 16 of this year it completed the acquisition of certain assets from the Orlando Software Group, Inc. (OSGi), the leading provider of process modeling, simulation and analytics software for the Microsoft Office platform. The acquisition brings OSGi’s market leading ProcessView and LeanView products to Bluespring’s BPM Suite, creating a framework that will provide the industry’s first true end-to-end process life cycle management platform for the enterprise.

Developed over 15 years, by a team of scientists in Orlando, Florida, the ProcessView and LeanView products operate natively within the Microsoft Office System (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint), which affords current Microsoft users the ability to take full advantage of the advanced capabilities of the software without the need to learn a new user interface. With over a thousand installations worldwide, ProcessView and LeanView have been leveraged to drive significant process improvements in markets such as defense, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services and government. The products are used by some of the world’s largest organizations, such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, BAE Systems, Emerson Process Management, Penn State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Pratt & Whitney, and Microsoft.

Bluespring Software is known industry wide for its advanced Key Performance Indicator (KPI) driven process innovation and automation platform. Developed in Cincinnati, OH, Bluespring offers the easiest to use and most flexible business process management software available for the Microsoft platform.

“We always had the best process management software but were missing the front end analytics to justify what processes needed improvement and if improved, how much additional cost would be saved. ProcessView and LeanView delivers just that!” stated Blaine Clark, of Bluespring Software. “The unique combination of Bluespring’s powerful BPM Suite and ProcessView and LeanView process modeling, simulation and analytics capabilities will bring a true continuous improvement platform to our customers, badly needed in the current economic environment.”

“Bluespring’s acquisition of ProcessView and LeanView extends Microsoft’s People_Ready Business promise by delivering process management solutions that enterprises can utilize to drive down costs and create new sources of innovation,” said Fred Studer, General Manager, Information Worker Group, Microsoft US.

Bluespring is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and managed ISV partner. Bluespring will continue to expand its close relationship with Microsoft in delivering solutions to key industries including healthcare, professional services, defense and manufacturing.

“The Bluespring acquisition of ProcessView and LeanView validates Visio’s status as a process management platform,” said Chris Crane, Director, Visio Product Management, “Bluespring now provides an incredibly compelling platform to design, model, simulate and automate business processes.”
